Dr. Vik Mali is a native to the area, growing up a mile from the office. After graduating from high school in Troy, his undergraduate education at Kalamazoo College led him to research opportunities at the National Institutes of Health and the University of Michigan. After college, he attended Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine and later Nationwide Children's Hospital/Ohio State University's pediatric residency program. After being away for a dozen years, "Dr. Vik" returned home to join his father's solo practice in 1999. Five years later, he was appointed to Chief of Pediatrics at William Beaumont Hospital - Troy, a role he served in until the end of 2009. Dr. Vik is also a founding board member of the Beaumont Physicians' Organization. Dr. Vik has led the growth of the practice from one physician to six with two nurse practitioners, all while adhering to his goal of preserving the doctor-patient relationship.
Dr. Vik is married with two children. When he is home, he finds himself on the sidelines of his two kids' travel soccer teams. In his free time, he enjoys tennis and playing with electronic gadgets.
Dr. Amy Youn is a native of the Detroit area. She received her undergraduate degree at Princeton University and returned home to attend medical school at Michigan State University-College of Human Medicine. She then moved to Grand Rapids where she completed her pediatric residency at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, followed by an additional year as Pediatric Chief Resident. Her first year of practice was spent in California, where she worked at Children's Hospital Los Angeles as a pediatrician in the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology (lung disease). She then returned home to join Mali and Mali Pediatrics in 2004 and hasn't looked back.
Dr. Youn is married with two children. When she isn't working or being a mommy, she enjoys cooking, baking, and being outdoors. She is proud of running in the Detroit Marathon Relay this year as part of the Mali and Mali Pediatrics team, the "Mali Llamas", and hopes to train for a triathlon this year.
Dr. Youn's passion is being a pediatrician. She truly enjoys spending time with her patients and their families and watching them grow and develop. She sees herself as one member of a team to help parents raise happy and healthy children.
Dr. Zoy Patouhas, M.D. has been a dedicated local resident of the Metro-Detroit area her entire life. Having graduated from Sterling Heights Stevenson High School and Wayne State University, she had spent many of those years volunteering at local charities including Habitat for Humanity and Karmanos Cancer Institute, local festivals such as Festival of Trees and Arts, Beats, and Eats, and teaching Greek at local Hellenic Cultural Centers. Dr. Zoy earned her medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine, and she completed her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital of Michigan. She volunteers yearly at the Explorathon to promote middle school girls interested in careers in math and science. Her hobbies include travel, sports (especially tennis, yoga, and swimming), movie trivia, performing arts and sings regularly in her church choir. She lives with her husband John and daughter Mariana.
Anna Groebe is passionate about caring for pediatric patients. She is a board certified pediatrician native to the metro Detroit area, where she remains involved in many community activities. Her special pediatric health interests include: growth and nutrition, breast feeding, development, and safety. Dr. Groebe enjoys working with parents to help raise healthy and happy children.
She began her experience with cardiac patients at Mott Children's Hospital while completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Anna Groebe then attended Michigan State University-College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she served as the President of the Medical Student Pediatric Interest Group. She completed her medical training at Children's Hospital in Detroit, where she also served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Groebe is the mother of twin boys, which keep her busy when she is away from the office.
Dr. Hanit Kalo grew up in metropolitan Detroit and is a graduate of Cranbrook Kingswood Academy. Her passion for helping children started then, while volunteering at a runaway shelter during high school. She continued her studies at the University of Michigan as a Movement Science major, all the while volunteering at Mott Children's Hospital. Upon receiving her medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine and completing her pediatric residency at New York University, Dr. Kalo returned to the Detroit area to be with her family and future husband. She has been in private practice since 2007, and happily joined Mali & Mali Pediatrics in 2010.
Dr. Kalo enjoys spending her free time with her family and pet shih tzu. Some of their favorite activities include spending time outdoors, traveling, and the performing arts. Other interests include pilates, dance, pet therapy, and foreign languages and cultures.
Dr. Kalo is a dedicated pediatrician who cares for her patients, their families, and their health concerns as a whole entity. She looks forward to building long term relationships with her patients while sharing smiles in the process.
Dr. Sloan joined the Mali & Mali Pediatrics team in 2010. She is a graduate of the pediatric residency training program at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. A native of the metro Detroit area, Dr. Sloan attended the University of Michigan for her undergraduate degree and Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine for her medical degree. In her free time, Dr. Sloan likes to spend her time on the waters and beaches of Lake Michigan. Her most recent endeavor was learning to sail. She also enjoys international travel, practicing yoga, learning to knit, cooking and baking. She actively supports the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan in their annual Wish-A-Mile 300 charity bike ride.
Sarah has been a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for 5 years. She was an Emergency Room Nurse at Troy Beaumont for many years prior to joining our office. She is board certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board and a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
Sarah obtained her Master’s degree in Nursing at the University of Michigan. She also has a Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Science from Michigan State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Wayne State University. Sarah was a recipient of the Nightingale Nursing award for which her peers nominated her in the category of staff nurse. She is a co-developer of the Pediatric Observation Program in the Emergency Room at Troy Beaumont.
In her spare time, she is a wife and the mother of two wonderful and crazy boys. Her passion in life has always been to care for children and treat each of them as if they were her own.
Emily is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) who joined the practice in 2008. Emily completed both undergraduate and graduate studies at Wayne State University, where she graduated with a Master’s Degree in 2007. She has varied nursing experiences, including: staff nursing in the pediatric intensive care unit at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, pediatric clinical nursing instructor for Macomb Community College, and emergency center/pediatric observation nurse practitioner at William Beaumont Hospital-Troy.
She is currently certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board, a national and local member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, as well as the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners. In 2010, Emily presented research data at the American College of Emergency Physicians national conference regarding data collected on pediatric emergency center patients.
Emily is the proud mother of 4 children-Jackson, Bennett, Isabella, and Charlotte. Her personal interests include shopping, travel, hiking and reading.
