Referrals
For most medical issues, our providers can evaluate and manage your care right here in the office. Occasionally, we will need to refer you to a specialist to help manage your child’s care. If we refer your child to a specialist, follow these steps to ensure your child gets the best care and to optimize your insurance coverage.
- Check with your insurance to ensure the provider participates with your insurance plan.
- Ask your insurance carrier if your plan requires a referral. Some insurance plans require that a member receive a referral from your primary care physician prior to seeing a specialist.
- Call the specialist to schedule your appointment
- Notify us of the appointment. Even if your plan does not require a referral, we highly recommend you speak with us prior to seeing a specialist.
If your plan requires a referral from your primary care physician, please call our office and select option 4 to leave a voicemail. We will need the doctor's name and specialty, reason for the visit, date of your appointment, location of the office, and fax number.
